Dan Jobson

Managing Director
Dan founded GCL to service the growing construction industry across the south and south west of England.
Dan is highly experienced in both environmental and geotechnical investigation, and has a deep understanding of the impact of the unique geology of the South West with respect to building development. Dan has worked across the UK on commercial, residential and infrastructure projects or varying scales in both the public and private sector.
Dan has a proven track record in business development, and has brought this experience to GCL, in order to meet the needs of the diverse range of clients across the south of England.
Frank Westcott

Associate
Frank is a highly experienced environmental professional and land contamination expert with particular expertise in brownfield development, environmental compliance and transactional due diligence.
He is a registered Suitably Qualified Person and Specialist in Land Condition.
He has worked for over forty years in civil and environmental consulting, remediation contracting, private sector development, local government and the nuclear industry, developing a unique understanding of the varying environmental issues faced by different industry sectors.
Josh Watts

Senior Engineering Geologist
Josh joined GCL in 2026 as a Senior Engineering Geologist, bringing with him seven years of experience working on a wide range of geotechnical projects across the UK and Australia.
At GCL, Josh is responsible for preparing quotations and managing a variety of site investigations, from initial enquiry through to fieldwork, interpretation and reporting. He has particular experience in engineering geology and geotechnical design, including foundation assessments, slope stability, retaining structures, earthworks and complex ground investigations.
Having recently returned to Cornwall after working in Sydney, Josh is equally at home managing projects from the office or getting involved on site. Outside of work, he enjoys surfing, football, hiking and pretty much any sport involving a racket.
Joe Unwin

Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant
Joe joined GCL in 2025, bringing wide-ranging experience from projects across the UK, offshore Europe, and Australia. He has developed strong technical and management skills in contaminated land and geotechnical investigation.
At GCL, Joe is involved in the delivery of Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigations, geotechnical assessments, and remediation schemes, with particular expertise in project management and soil, groundwater and vapour sampling.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys surfing, football, and defending his title as the reigning office darts champion.
Gaby Cook

Geoenvironmental Consultant
Gaby joined GCL in 2023 as a Graduate Geoenvironmental Consultant, after being awarded a first class degree in Environmental Geography from Cardiff University.
Gaby is responsible for preparing Phase 1 Preliminary Risk Assessments, including historic mapping reviews, site walkover surveys, environmental data analysis and geological interpretation. As well as desk-based work, Gaby is often out in the field supervising and logging exploratory holes such as windowless sample boreholes and trial pits.
Since joining GCL, Gaby has achieved CSCS Accreditation, CAT and Genny Competency Certification, First Aid training and Asbestos Awareness training.
Beth Beare

Geoenvironmental Engineer
Beth joined our team in 2024 as a Graduate Geoenvironmental Engineer, bringing with her a wealth of enthusiasm and a fresh perspective.
After completing her studies at Royal Holloway University, Beth began her career with a local consultancy, where she gained invaluable experience exploring the unique and diverse geological landscape of Cornwall.
Since becoming part of the GCL team, Beth has actively contributed to a wide range of site investigations across Devon and Cornwall. Whether she’s unraveling the history of a site for a Phase 1 Desk Study, meticulously logging rock core, or coordinating laboratory testing, Beth’s dedication and expertise shine through.
Adding to the team’s dynamic, Beth’s fox-red Labrador, Moose, is a beloved presence in the office, boosting morale and ensuring there’s always a smile to go around.
Mark Stewart

Technician
Mark is GCL’s Technician and resident problem-solver, helping to keep our equipment, vehicles and site operations running smoothly.
His role is extremely varied and includes equipment and vehicle maintenance, assisting with site investigations, carrying out in-situ testing and collecting monitoring data from sites across Cornwall and the South West. With a strong practical background and a natural ability to turn his hand to almost anything, Mark is usually the person we call when something needs fixing, testing or figuring out.
Away from work, Mark looks after his smallholding and collection of sheep, chickens and a horse. He also makes an exceptionally strong cup of tea and regularly keeps the office supplied with fresh eggs from his chickens.
Tash

Office Manager
Tash keeps the GCL engine running smoothly, overseeing everything from HR and administration to logistics and day-to-day coordination of our busy project schedule. She ensures the team stay organised, the paperwork precise, and the all-important sample labels ready to go when and where they’re needed.
With a meticulous eye for detail, Tash also manages the input and formatting of site investigation data, ensuring exploratory hole records meet BS 5930 standards and project documentation is delivered to the highest quality.
Outside the office, Tash enjoys family adventures around Cornwall, coastal walks, and keeping the rest of the team in line — a full-time job in itself!
