Ground Investigations for Public Sector Housing

Affordable housing in Cornwall is desperately needed, with the number of households waiting for social housing soaring from 9,000 in March 2020, to 21,200 in January 2022.

Ground Consultants Limited are proud to be working on a number of affordable housing schemes across the county, as well as primary and secondary school developments. We have been regularly called upon to undertake Ground Investigations by MWJV Ltd, who are working in partnership with Cornwall Council on the Built Environment Professional Services (BEPS) Framework, as well as the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) Programme.

The BEPS framework involves the collective collaboration of a number of local SMEs, to deliver timely and cost-effective project delivery. The HRA Business Plan is a 30 year initiative to manage and maintain Cornwall Council’s housing assets, and crucially to deliver new affordable housing.

Ground investigations are an integral part of the construction process, providing invaluable information such as drainage potential, bearing capacity of subsoils, road/pavement design parameters as well as groundwater fluctuations. Ground investigations are also aimed at identifying any construction risks such as historic mine workings and/or land contamination. Headquartered in Wadebridge, Cornwall, our team of local experts at Ground Consultants Limited have extensive experience working in the county, and are well versed in tackling issues presented by its unique geology and mining heritage.
